Install Fedora Core 3 on Supermicro board
The Supermicro X6DVL-EG-O motherboard seems to have a couple of problems (maybe others, too). This makes the machine freezes right after the initial boot screen from Fedora appears (I could reproduce this with FC 1, 2 and 3 install CDs). To get around this I disabled the USB legacy support in the BIOS. The screen still looks screwed but you can boot the machine.
The second problem I encountered was that kacpi took all the CPU time and the install was awfully slow. This can be fixed by entering linux acpi=off at the boot prompt followed by enter. This will disable ACPI and the install is damn fast :-)
